Guild Meeting Notes 12-6-08

by Dessanso, 31 days ago

Hi All,
Notes for the upcoming guild meeting:
1 – First, thank you for coming to the 4th annual Light Brigade birthday party. The guild has come a long way since it was founded by three guys from Kansas City just days after the release of World of Warcraft. As always I give praise to Magen (the first Guild Master and founder of our guild), Valark (now Dyllan) and Thrain (who has moved on, but is still a friend to this guild). I also wish to thank the members who have been with us through the good times when we were marching steadily to final boss in Molten Core and the bad times when we went through a nasty guild split that saw a third of our members leave. As the fourth member to ever join the guild I’ve seen months on end when I was just the 4 original members always looking for a healer so we could do 5 man instances and I’ve seen the guild suddenly grow to 25 members only to fall back to 8. I witnessed the limitless loyalty and friendship of Magen and Dyllan to welcome me back into the guild after I had left it for a time and I was extremely honored when going back some 18 months now I was elected as the 2nd Guild Master of the Light Brigade.
2 – Going back nearly 2 ½ years The Light Brigade was a tiny band wondering how we were ever going to grow big enough to do the 40 man instances and it was only through friendships with other guilds that we were able to do Stratholme and UBRS. Than somewhere in that time frame a young 40-ish hunter named Xica joined the guild. Xica was all about raiding and seemed always to be online. He quickly advanced to level 60, raiding with his Australian friends and soon was organizing The Light Brigade to do 15 man and 40 man raids. In the beginning we were running with less than half the raid members being guild members, but as we gained success in places like Molten Core those raid members became guild members. As time marched by we gained in this period many of the guild members who are still with us, the “core” of our guild.
3 – With the guild growing by leaps and bounds, it came time for the Burning Crusade expansion. Much to Xica’s dismay raiding came to a crashing halt. Everybody wanted to level and who could blame them. The problem was about half the guild was suffering from raiding hangover and the other half of the guild was racing to 70 to start raiding again. Once we built a core of 70’s it came time again to organize for the 10 man starter instance Karazhan. And this is where a major rift in the guild developed. Xica, as guild raid leader, wanted to organize the 10 man groups based on his wisdom alone, this lead several guild members to question his ideas of group makeup. The disagreement became heated and when I stepped in to try and heal the growing rift, my interference was taken as just that. Xica left the guild and with him went many of our hardcore raiders.
4 – It was at this time I became Guild Master and started trying to rebuild the guild and start up the Karazhan runs. Thankfully a shadow priest named Dezi a long time guild member, stepped in and filled the vacuum of leading the guild raids and with him showing the way much hard won 25 instance success was achieved to point where we were 5 bosses deep into Black Temple by the time Wrath of the Lich King expansion was released.
5 – The other thing I am grateful for is that The Light Brigade with all of its raiding success has also made room for non-raiders. The guild bank is open to all members initiate or higher in guild rank. All we ask is that you contribute to bank if you want items that your other guild members have contributed on your behalf. And I want to thank all the guild members who make time to help out other guild members. Our Golden Rule is do not ask for help, offer to help and when you really need help your guild friends will be there.
6 – New business:
A – With so many rapidly advancing to 80 and a growing group has already made 80 (congrats to you), it’s time to start thinking about raiding again.
B – Dezi, Jalestra and Athinos have all stepped up to say they will lead our first groups into Naxxramas, the new 10 man starter instance. Groups will be forming very soon. If you are 80 great; but if you are not, don’t worry somehow we always found room for everyone to get their mains and alts into Karazhan.
C – Also Dezi will be organizing Burning Crusade raids to finish up those portions that were not achieved prior to the release of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. These will be a great way to have some fun raiding, still see game content many of us have not seen and get achievement points so think about joining us for these raids.
D – Give Dezi time to talk about guild raiding.
7 – New officers:
A – Jandrand to Officer
B – Saersha to Officer
C – Andragara to Primus
D – Beren to Primus
E – Allim to Primus
F – Valkriess to Chosen
G – Dagomere to Chosen
H – Opaleyes to Chosen
I – Sponge to Chosen
J – Billee to Chosen
K – Rochira to Chosen
L – Celtigar to Chosen
8 – Fun and Games: Jalestra has a Card Game, the game did not work very well (but thanks for the great effort, Jale) and we gave away almost every lockbox we had in the bank, as well as 100's in gold. Thanks for the understanding and we will try for another new game at the next guild meeting.
9 – Raid on the Horde: Agnost lead our attack on every Horde City to get the achievement of killing 5 Horde in each town. We were able to do this as well as get the "That's takes Class" achievement for killing one of Horde each class. We were even able to take down a Horde boss in Thunder Bluff and almost had a second boss down before the Horde showed up to get their achievement of 50 kills defending a friendly city. The fight in boss hut was intense and fun and lasted so long several of our healers piled up over 1 million hit points healed
10 -- Next guild meeting will be sometime around the end of March, see ya there.
